Outcomes : training modules

These 2 years-collaborative work with the 8 partners engaged in CapeVfair have come to rich and  successful exchanges of professional practices and a real stimulus to working on the issue of vulnerability in the perinatal period.

Contrasting technical, theoretical knowledge and additional field experiences have allowed the experts from 4 countries involved in the project to highlight specific skills and specifc tools  to professional quality accompaniment.

Professionals who support mothers and young children must be trained or at least sensitized to these specific tools and skills.

A good knowledge of vulnerability factors, identifying, observing them and analyzing them is a prerequisite to a suitable care of mothers and children who are in risk situations.

Professionals must be able to integrate the fact that assistance involves a cyclical process of finding/observation/analysis of people’s vulnerability, bearing in mind that vulnerabilities can potentially evolve regularly over time. Observation is transversal to the duration of the support like for example identification and assessment of vulnerabilities, new factors may appear at any time justifying to adjust the suggested assistance.

The CapeVfair project partners are now able to offer training and/or awareness modules  in specific accompaniment of mothers and vulnerable children during the perinatal period.

They have build together operational technical documents, support for this training:

  • A definition of the vulnerability of mothers and children during the perinatal period
  • A document describing and explaining the tools to identify vulnerability factors used by professionals in the field in different countries, contexts and cultures
  • A document describing and explaining the observation/analysis tools of vulnerability factors used by professionals in the field in different countries, contexts and cultures
  • A document describing and explaining acccompaniment tools  for mothers and children in vulnerable situations in order to support the mother-child bond, to develop the motherly skills.
